I am Seth Endsley, the artist behind Codon Studio. I am based in Austin, Texas, where I create original linoleum block print designs. Each piece is designed, carved, inked, and printed by my hand. I began printmaking in high school and was drawn to the medium for its graphic nature, process, and resistance to machine precision. I consider the process itself to be the art, with the finished print serving as a record of that work.
My work is informed by an early and lasting fascination with insects, reptiles, and other small creatures that began in childhood. I continued to become more fascinated by the patterns found in nature and biological systems at the University of Texas at Austin where I received bachelor’s degrees in Quantitative Finance and Computational Biology. My concentration on the intricacies of organisms is reflected in the studio’s name, as a codon is a fundamental unit of genetic information and a building block of life.
